Bored girl watching TV
Kids wathing too much TV?

An example for using the TVTIMER could be that you might want to let your children watch some TV when they get home from school and some time before they go to bed.

The TVTIMER could be set up so that the TV can be switched on between 3 to 6pm and also between 8 to 9 pm and also you can set a limit on the total time they can watch TV, by setting what we call the TVTIME to 1 hour. Effectively what you have done is allowed your child to switch on the TV between 3 to 6 pm and 8 to 9 pm but limited the maximum time they can watch TV to 1 hour.

Using the TV TIMER

Remove plastic strip from the battery compartment. This will enable the TV Timer to work and allow it to be set up. The TV TIMER should be set up while it is not plugged in the mains socket (see below).

Setting changes are made using the buttons on the front of the TVTIMER (see below).

Plug the TV mains lead onto the timer. Insert the Hex Key provided into the hole found at the bottom of the timer. Tighten the screw found in the hole to lock in the TV plug (do not over tighten). Check that the plug cannot be removed (see below).

Plug the TVTIMER into a 13 Amp socket and switch the socket on.
Switch on the TV. The TVTIMER will now run automatically and will switch the TV ON or OFF to your selected times.
The screen will display the TV TIME remaining. If the TV is on, TV TIME will reduce but if the TV is off this time will not reduce.
It is recommended that the TV be turned off using its own on/off switch whenever the TV is not being watched, or when time has run out on the TVTIMER because some TV’s will turn on again automatically when the next ‘on’ period is reached.
